NATIONAL YOUTH ORCHESTRA

• The National Youth Orchestra (NYO) is a string orchestra. It focuses on developing advanced technical skills., part playing, and understanding more advanced musical concepts while working closely as a team. 
• These students are very focused on what they want to achieve with their music. They are highly talented and seek out the best opportunities to realize their potential.
• They can earn also Leadership Awards and enjoy performing in competitions, as well as regular concerts. 

COMPETITION

• Students work harder when they have a deadline and a goal to work towards.
• Students receive feedback from judges and adjudicators.
• Students have a systematic way to measure their achievement and advancement. 
• Students come to understand that competition participation is a very powerful motivator for high-level performance practice. 

CONCERTS

• Playing in a concert provides constant motivation to practice and improve by way of weekly rehearsals.
• Playing in an concert also helps students to develop their teamwork skills playing alongside their fellow musicians. 
• Concerts are a great experience for overall music development.
• Concerts also create opportunities for the whole family to be involved as performers and as audience. 

Entry Requirements: Audition by appointment / Min. Grade 6

• Great opportunities for students to get ahead on their skills development by playing in various groups, duets, trios, quartets, etc. Includes Graded Theory, Music Awards (Grades & Diplomas) as well as awards for leadership. 

Fees

• Single $500 per term includes Concert Admission
• Family $800 per term includes Concert Admission
• A 50% discounted fee is available for Concession Card holders. 
• Those in our scholarship program receive the entire program 100% remission of fees. 

• Exams, awards, orchestra training, concerts, competitions, and other instruction (theory, aural, & rhythm training) are all included in the term fee.
