The National Youth Orchestra (NYO) is a string orchestra. It focuses on developing advanced technical skills, part playing, and understanding more advanced musical concepts while working closely as a team.
- These students are very focused on what they want to achieve with their music. They are highly talented, and seek out the best opportunities to realize their potential.
- They can also earn Leadership Awards and enjoy performing in competitions, as well as regular concerts.
CONCERTS
- Playing in a concert provides constant motivation to practice and improve by way of weekly rehearsals.
- Playing in an concert also helps students to develop their teamwork skills playing alongside their fellow musicians.
- Concerts are a great experience for overall music development.
- Concerts also create opportunities for the whole family to be involved as performers and as audience.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Audition by appointment / Min. Grade 8
- Great opportunities for students to get ahead on their skills development by playing in various groups, duets, trios, quartets, etc. Includes Graded Theory, Music Awards (Grades & Diplomas) as well as awards for leadership.
